What is Kojagari Lakshmi Puja?
In Bengal, Kojagari Lakshmi Puja is celebrated on the Ashwin Purnima (full moon night after Durga Puja). Unlike other regions of India that worship Goddess Lakshmi on Diwali, Bengali households open their doors on this specific autumn night to receive Her blessings. The word **"Kojagari"** comes from the Sanskrit phrase **"Ko Jagarti"** meaning *"Who is awake?"*. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi visits every house on this night, and grants wealth and happiness to those who keep a night vigil, light lamps, and draw sacred rice-paste Alpona drawings.
