The short version
- There is no analytics on this site. No Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts.
- No cookies are set unless you sign in, and then only the ones that keep you signed in. Nothing else is written to your browser's storage.
- You do not need an account to read anything. An account is optional, and you can delete it yourself at any time from your account page.
- What you type into the eligibility checker is used to filter the scheme list and is then discarded. It is never written to a database.
- The only things this site stores are accounts, for people who choose to make one, and registrations for the teacher and business directories, which people submit so that they can be published. What is kept, what is shown, and how to have it removed, is set out below.
- Fonts are served from this site, not from Google, so loading a page does not tell anyone else that you visited.
The eligibility checker
The scheme eligibility checker asks for age, gender, state, income, category, minority status and occupation. Some of that is sensitive, so it is worth being precise about what happens to it.
Your answers are sent to this site's own server, used in a single database query to select which schemes match, and returned as results. They are not written to any table, not attached to any identifier, and not shared with anyone. When the request finishes they are gone. Nothing about the checker is retained between visits, which is also why it starts empty each time.
The checker never asks for your name, Aadhaar number, bank details or any document, and it never will. No feature of this site needs them.
Accounts
You can make an account with your email and a password, or sign in with Google or Facebook. An account lets teachers and business owners manage their listings and fills in forms for you. Nothing else on the site needs one.
- What an account keeps: your name, email address, mobile number and whether it is on WhatsApp, district, town or locality, PIN code, and when you last signed in. None of it is published or shown to anyone but you.
- Passwords are stored only as a salted scrypt hash, which cannot be turned back into the password.
- Google and Facebook: if you sign in with one, we receive your name, your email address (if you share it), an ID that identifies you to our site, and from Google your profile picture. We do not receive your password, contacts, posts or anything else, and we never post on your behalf.
- Cookies:signing in sets a cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days, which page scripts cannot read, and a second one that only tells the header to say “Account” instead of “Sign in”. Signing in with Google or Facebook also sets a short-lived cookie for the ten minutes the round trip takes. None of them track you across sites.
- Email: confirmation, password and account-change emails are sent through Brevo, an email delivery service, which receives only the address and the message. You are never added to a mailing list.
Deleting your account: sign in, open your account and choose “Delete my account”. Your account, its details, its Google or Facebook link and every teacher or business listing it owns are deleted from the database straight away, not just hidden. This is also how to remove data we received from Google or Facebook. If you cannot sign in, email mailus.silly@gmail.com from the address on the account and it will be deleted for you.
The teacher directory
Teachers and tutors can register to be listed in the teacher directory. Unlike everything else on this site, that registration is stored, because its whole purpose is to be published.
- Published once approved: name, mobile number and whether it is on WhatsApp, district, town or locality, subjects, classes, teaching mode, qualification, years of experience and the optional description.
- Stored but never published: email address and PIN code, if given. They are used only to contact the teacher about their listing.
- Every registration is checked by a person before it appears. Nothing is shown while it waits, and a rejected registration is never shown.
- Registration needs the teacher's explicit consent to a public listing, and the time that consent was given is recorded. Registrants must be 18 or older.
- Listings are not sold, shared or passed to anyone. Because the directory is public, though, anyone can read a published listing, including the phone number.
Teachers with an account can edit their listing from it, and deleting the account deletes the listing. Otherwise, to correct or remove a listing, email mailus.silly@gmail.com with the mobile number it was registered under. A removed registration is deleted from the database, not just hidden.
The business directory
Shops, services and professionals can register to be listed in the business directory. The same rules apply as for teachers.
- Published once approved: business name, category, mobile number and whether it is on WhatsApp, district, town or locality, and the optional address, opening hours and description.
- Stored but never published: email address, if given. It is used only to contact the owner about the listing.
- Every registration is checked by a person before it appears, needs explicit consent to a public listing (the time is recorded), and must come from someone 18 or older who runs the business or may list it.
- Listings are not sold, shared or passed to anyone, but a published listing, phone number included, can be read by anyone. Correction and removal work as for teachers, above.
Server logs
Like any web server, the machine serving this site records ordinary request logs — the page requested, the time, the IP address the request came from, and the browser's user-agent string. These exist so the site can be kept running and abuse can be identified. They are not used to build any profile of a visitor, are not combined with anything else, and are not shared.
Links to other sites
Scheme pages link out to official government portals, and the calendar can generate a Google Calendar link for a festival if you choose to click it. Those are separate sites with their own privacy practices, and following a link there is outside the scope of this policy. Nothing on this site sends your information to them on your behalf.
Email you send us
If you write to mailus.silly@gmail.com, that mail sits in an ordinary mailbox so the exchange can be followed up. It is not added to any mailing list and you will not be sent anything you did not ask for. If you would like a message deleted, say so and it will be.
Children
This site is a public reference, safe to read at any age, and nothing on it needs an account. Scholarship schemes in the directory are frequently relevant to students; the eligibility checker still stores nothing when a student uses it. Teacher and business registration is open only to adults, and the forms ask registrants to confirm they are 18 or older.
Changes to this policy
If this site ever starts collecting something it does not collect today — analytics, for instance — this page will be updated before that happens, as it was before teacher registration and accounts opened, and the date at the top will change.
