Not a government website
My West Bengal is an independent, privately run reference site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorised by or operated on behalf of the Government of India, the Government of West Bengal, or any department, agency or officer of either.
It does not accept applications, process claims, charge fees, or act as an intermediary for any scheme. If any page here ever appears to offer such a service, it is not legitimate and should be reported to mailus.silly@gmail.com.
Scheme information is a summary, not the rule
Every scheme entry is a plain-language restatement compiled from the official notification or portal for that scheme, and every entry links to that source. The official source governs. Where this site and the official source disagree, the official source is correct and this site is wrong.
Eligibility rules, benefit amounts, document requirements and deadlines change without notice, and an entry here can be out of date. The eligibility checker indicates schemes that may be worth investigating based on what you entered; it is not a determination of eligibility, and no one is bound by its result. Always confirm on the official portal before you apply or make a decision that depends on it.
Panjika timings are computed for Kolkata
All calendar and panchang figures are calculated for Kolkata, using the Lahiri ayanamsa and the drik tradition. They are published in good faith and are believed accurate, but they are provided for reference and are not a substitute for the judgement of the priest or almanac your family observes.
Timings will differ by a few minutes elsewhere in West Bengal, and can differ more from a Surya Siddhanta almanac. The methodology page explains exactly where and why. For a ritual whose timing matters, confirm with your priest.
Liability
This site is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, My West Bengal accepts no liability for any loss arising from reliance on information published here — including a missed deadline, a rejected application, or an observance kept at the wrong time. The remedies above are the ones that work: check the official portal for schemes, and your priest or family almanac for ritual timings.
Content and reuse
The mantras, stotras and liturgical texts reproduced on the festival pages are ancient works in the public domain. The explanatory writing, page design and calculated output are the work of this site. Quoting a passage with a link back is welcome; republishing pages wholesale is not.
Government scheme details are factual information drawn from public notifications, which carry no such restriction — but the official portal is always the better citation.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the site changes; the date at the top will reflect it. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised terms.
