About the Scheme
Medhashree is a pre-matric scholarship for students of Other Backward Classes studying in Classes V to VIII in government and government-aided schools in West Bengal. It was introduced by the State after central pre-matric assistance for OBC students was discontinued, and works alongside Sikshashree, which covers Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students at the same stage. š How to Apply
Step 1:Apply Through the School
Collect and submit the Medhashree application through the head of the institution.
Step 2:Attach the OBC Certificate
Attach the OBC certificate together with residential proof and the bank passbook copy.
Step 3:School Forwards the List
The school verifies the applications and forwards the consolidated list to the block welfare office.
Step 4:Scholarship Disbursal
The sanctioned amount is credited directly to the student or guardian bank account.
